So far, I can buy a new screen for about $100 bucks and try to replace it myself (Cale found me instructions on the internet), but that means risking messing it up and ruining everything. Or I could buy a new camera (I want to stick to the same type b/c of memory card and battery issues)...but that too would cost me about $300-$400 (even with staff discounts from friends) b/c it's hard to find a good quality store that caries my camera still.

Lisa, 80% of cameras coming out these days use SD cards like yours. We sell the SD550 at work for $520. Now thats the suped up, 7mp version of yours. You should be able to find an SD300, or better for about the same amout it would cost you to have it fixed.

And believe me I know your pain...I've fucked up my share of cameras.

Oh I know you can relate. Where do you think I'll be able to find the 300? I've been looking for it at Future Shop...Best Buy...that kinda stuff...and I can only find the 400. I may be able to get a 400 or 450 for around $300-$400...but I'd rather not spend that money if I don't have to! I like closer to $200-$300. I'm thinking I'm gonna end up just buying a new camera if it's gonna cost a bit more than fixing my current one. I like my camera...I don't feel I need the upgraded version. So if I can get the 300 from a good quality store, not just off some cheap place on the internet that I don't want to trust, then I will do that.

I've actually bought some expensive camera equipment from online stores. You can't beat their prices.

I recommend Adorama.

But yeah, the SD300 is older and the big boys have stopped carrying it...

I will keep an eye out for you Lisa.

Yes, what you showed me on your screen is definitely considered physical damage. ************ of whether you actually physically damaged it yourself. I see the same case come in all the time. For whatever reason, the screens are prone to cracking like that (same with iPods) and that is not covered under warranty.

An LCD is a bit different. Provided there is not an obvious crack in the screen - say some of the pixels are blown, or as was stated the interlacing with intermittent picture is the problem - that's a technical defect, which is covered under the one year manufacturer's warranty.
