While the production itself isnt bad, those vocals ruin it all. That's why i dont like the Qat collections. Same with one of the most acclaimed CD's in history, Renaissance:The Mix Collection. I have not until this day understood the greatness of that CD. Good tracks but those really, really shit vocals makes it unbearable to me.

But then again im not into the sound of older House, so who am i to judge.

Really shit vocals? I think you and I are listening to different Renaissance sets, my friend. Disc 3 is one of the greatest dance mixes of all time, and the other two are right behind it.

I don't understand how those vocals could be any worse than the garbage that Tiesto/AvB/PvD/etc use in their songs.

There's a bit of a gap between "garbage" and "one of the greatest mixes of all time".

i guess he has a thing against diva vocals, which i have as well - it puts me off completely of most tracks. admitedly i didn't give much of a chance to those Renaissance cd's, just skipped through it with barely any track catching my attention, and never played it again. maybe it got lots of critic acclaim, but personally found it 30x less interesting than other stuff from the same time period.

Actually, I quite like most of the Renaissance vocals. When it comes to vocal tracks, the production is either good, or it isn't. This goes for every genre of music from the beginning of time until now. I'm listening to disc 2 of Renaissance Vol. 1 right now, and I'm happy to hear this any day over most tracks out now. I suppose I'm more of a house/progressive house/progressive trance guy than most people here, but that doesn't change my overall feeling about many vocal tracks from the last few years.

Minor bit of necrophilia here, but I bought this after reading the thread. The three Qat tracks are awesome, but the more trad. vocal house sounds horribly, horribly dusty now.
