"hip house" has been around as long as i can remember. Some of the very first house tracks were "hip house". And ive noticed it's making a strong comeback lately which is good. The thing ive never liked about hip hop is how slow and boring the beat is. Cleaverly done, a hip hop track can sound amazing as a house track. In fact some of my favourite house tunes are actually remixes of rnb songs. "we had a thing" by abstract truth is one such example that comes to mind.
Old schoolers will remember doug lazy who was always featured in hip house tracks. And ive notice a lot of his vocals making a comeback in remixed modern form lately.

CeCe Peniston, Queen Latifah, Heavy D, even LL Cool J had a house track. They both virtually started around the same time. They used to play House & hip hop in all the Toronto clubs back in the day..side by side. That was common.

i'm glad you are feeling the set
however...... the song you speak of is actually a remix/mashup of Daft Punk's "Technologic". the original was actually sampled by Swizz Beatz for Busta Rhymes song "Touch It".

but the difference was that back then hip hop was party music. Not the negative bling bling gangsta crap that we have today. Gangsta always was around but it was fringe music that never made its way into clubs. And for good reason.

That video is a blatant ripoff of that scene in Monty Python's The Meaning of Life where the guy is chased off the cliff by topless chicks in helmets into his grave.

a friend of mine takes his hip hop records and makes them exactly half the speed of my house records and can mix them flawlessly....im not talking a 20 second mix either. i mean this guy can ride both records right out....it sounds amazing too.
