Money

They could liberate people in their own backward, but the administration chooses to go the profitable rought. And look at the results. The administration tried to lie to the people to legitamize their war, but it all turned out to be a lie. Know their legitamacy is obvious. I can't believe people were stupid enough to believe in this administration.

as someone who buys political books left and right (no pun intended) i could recommend u quiet a few that will disown your claim that heliburton is supposedly making money of this

cause we aren't.

I'm a strong beliver that we will win this war, and I'm always optimistic about it. I think the administration didnt calculate things a bit well, but either way, we were going to be headed for Iraq. Some people say that it was too soon. I think the only way we can win this war is through good diplomacy and use of force as well. By us building democracy and establishing goverments in support of us, the job will be much eashier. I

f we can get the Iraqis, or the Muslims in the Middle East in general to start liking us and appriciating the western society and not having the hate that they have then I think there will not be as much terrorists and anit American, anti western culture muslims. Force will be nessesary as well. You always hear the news on tv, but thats not the best source about the war on iraq really. Most of the media is left wing and will always be anything the Bush administation does. We just need to do our jobs and give it time. Remember we even have troops in Germany after 50 years of ww2, so our troops will be there for a long period of time and especially when we are fighting a war that will last years. Bin Laden isnt our only enemy.

Two questions:

1) Do you believe with the statement in the article that a withdrawl from Iraq will be viewed in the eyes of Osama bin Laden as a victory?
2) Do you still believe the US should withdraw without a commitment from the UN or other international participants to replace them?

I dont know about first one, it can/it may not; but if Iraq has anything to do with Osama than I feel this current chaos, bombings, killings, sniper vedios, Civial War and faliure of US to bring peace and stability in itself would be looked as a victory for Osama.

I dont think its a good idea for US to leave without UN troops presence, orelse I feel it can be like first 15 days after toppling of Saddam Hussein. Massive looting and lawlessness again, forget the Civil War.

Oh and lol at that guy trying to sell his book. I like fantasy fiction books.

Very ambivalent about this one, i don't have much conviction either way (i flip flopped on yes though) But i do believe going into Iraq was a huge mistake, it has increased the likelihood of terrorist attacks against the US and its allies, and inspired so much enmity in the Islamic world towards the West.

The war in Iraq was a God send for Bin Laden, it was the best advertising campaign Islamic terrorist cells could have hoped for, what makes the situation more ironic is that Osama and Al Qaeda had nothing to do with Saddams regime. Now that Iraq is slipping into civil war, Al Qaeda have potentially found the perfect breeding ground to ferment more terror which will draw the US into a war that will kill thousands of its troops and hurt its economy badly. That's some fucked up poetic justice :/

I don't think the US will be able to win the war, but hypothetically speaking what do people here think will happen if the Coalition is 'sucessful' in creating a 'stable' democracy? Will the Shiite majority elect a government closely tied with Iran? I guess that depends on how much residual animosity between the two countries resulting from the Iraq Iran war there is, and if they perceive the US and the West to be a bigger threat than Iran.

I have no doubt the Americans would bury them however, as Iraq is proving, it's the aftermath they would have to worry about...

"No". The democratically elected government in Iraq wants the troops to stay - and the US has a moral obligation to help this new government get its foot down.

+1

Even if they wanted to, they can't.
