In some ways yes, other ways no.

They've sorted the crossfader lag but there's still a lag on the channel faders. It's pretty well built but the rubber part has come off one of the knobs for me and one of the cue buttons is starting to take a very slightly harder press for it to register... this is after about 16 months. Oh and the tap button broke within a couple of months of me getting it but they sorted it quickly and apparently they've fixed the problem with any you buy now.

Feature-wise it's fucking excellent, stuff like the matrix assign, having manual filters as well as the DJM600-esque fx; fx send, sampler and fx unit are all separate so you can route sound through both the fx send and onboard fx at once if you like, etc.

How does it compare to A&H? It probably doesn't sound as good although it sounds a lot better than a DJM600. The filters aren't as good, but they're very useable and then the A&H don't have the other fx.

Oh, and fuck the NUO3... it's only 3 channels

NUO4 and NUO5 come very highly recommended though, both packed full of features, excellent sound quality and very well built

I'll take a DJM-600 over a DN-X1500 any day of the week, and I did. I've never done an a/b sound comparison between the two, but, on paper,

the DJM-600 technically has better sound.

It also feels better, and more solid. The effects are much more intuitive. Everything just works.

The matrix-input on the Denon IS pretty cool, though. And the effects signal path is sweet.

Neither even comes close to the Xone:92 (which replaced my 600). And I'll take the Xone's filters over any amount of other effects. Anyway, there's always external effectors.

I have to add that the DJM-800 is awesome. Really, really awesome.

Unfortunately, they've laid out signal flow of the DJM600 really badly and run absolutely eveyrthing through the sampler, which makes it sound a lot worse. This is why the DJM500 sounds better than the 600, they use the same signal processing algorithms but the 600 is degraded by the sampler.

But I totally agree that you're better off with a Xone:92 and external fx. You can never predict what mixer you may end up playing on so obviously the sensible thing to do is have fx you can take with you and use wherever you go...

With that information in mind, I wonder why the DJM has a better s/n ratio? How do they measure that? I was just basing my statement on sound from the numbers.

From my experience, the sound quality on the DJM degrades when you turn on effects, just like the sound on my 92 degrades when I use the EFX-500.

But there's still a degradation in quality when the the effects or sampler are not in use? What a silly design flaw!
