It may have already been said, but I can't say it enough. Gas prices might look alot better when considering the out-of-pocket price but American federal tax dollars subsidize gasoline to make the individual cost lower. Part of your federal taxes goes to gas companies to make sure Americans stay on the road. We still have a bit of a lower price because we tend to consume more gas faster than Europe, but the price isnt as different as it first appears

Diesel is about 1.15 euro a liter btw
For regular it's almost 7 bucks a gallon.
