Seriously, not everything preposed by a politition (other then harper... you like him right?) is an aweful invasion on your freedom. You need to look at things a little deeper, there are very good reasons for limiting this type of activity.... some of which have been mentioned. |
Actually in most third world countries they ban panhandling but allow for people to sell stuff on the street unlicenced. Everything from newspapers in traffic, to pop, to kiddie toys. You name it.
In Canada we allow people to beg and annoy but the moment anyone tries to sell something we bust them for not having a permit or disallow them because they may be a hazard, annoyance, etc etc.
If someone is having a garage sale every day and selling next to new items obviously its a problem. But my parents used to have 4 garage sales a year. They were more about socializing than money. We would even have the bbq going and we gave out free food(im sure now there is some health dept law against that too)
We are getting so uptight in this society.
"OMG i can see his old plates out on his driveway! The world is endeing! And whats worse is that i had to pick up the flyer telling me about it from my mailbox! OH THE HORROR!"
And people ask me why i want to move
