the U.S. has cracked down hard-core on lots of things that are pseudo-narcotic and can fuck you up....NJ State Law now prohibits the sale of any product containing pseudoephedrine (most allergy meds incl. benadryl, sudafed, among others) to kids under 18....and a limit of 3.4 grams of pseudoephedrine per customer
sooo...how much pure pseudoephedrine can be extracted from one box of sudafed? i need me some of the uncut shit.

I understand that we do have a vansalism problem so therefore I understand trying to cut down the amount of vandalism that is atatched to graffiti, good! but making markers illigal to minors? That seems a tad silly. What's next? ..." You will be subject to a 2000$ fine if caught buying markers for minors. I remember when I was 10 and I needed permanent markers for a science project, so kids DO still need them, and are not just using them for bad reasons. Spray paint cans as well are used by kids not only for inhaling or graffiti, Yes a majority might be using them for such reasons, but by "baning" them to buy the products is only going to cause a riot amoung minors, and the debating will continie between both parties because of such a stupid law.

in heavily graffitied places like NYC and Los Angeles, they've had the same law for quite some time now except there you gotta be over 21 to buy spraypaint or a broad tipped marker.
and i bet it hasnt done anything to stop graffiti.

That seems to be the trend with most of our laws...
we keep getting more authoritarian and the traditionally authoritarian are become more free.
Its interesting to see that some to usual suspects on TA that support feel good bans are the ones that think this one is silly because it happens to be aimed at their age group or an age group they were recently in.
Very Interesting.

You can take away the markers, you can take away the spray cans, But I agree, graffiti cannot be stopped. They'll probably, and most likely use something else, like actual paint , crayons? But then, will the make it illegal to buy crayons? lol

Yeah, that's London City Council for you. If you think this is bad, you should hear some of those bible thumpers bitch about clubs like The Phoenix, any of the WHOPPING FIVE strip clubs we have here and the massage parlours. If they had their way, we'd all be banned from going out on saturday so we could attend sunday morning church.
This city is pretty lame.

ummm...you totally missed the point. Put an age limit on spraypaint and markers so kids don't buy them, they'll just steal them or get older friends to buy them or use a fake id.
Plus, most of the GOOD graffiti like the pics shown below aren't done by kids under 18 anyways.

I have respect for the people that do graffiti that looks like those pics, It is art. But what I have been refering to is the discusting mess that little kids do, like spray painting nazi signs, FUCK YOU, FUCK THE WORLD, or other non sense profanity that they do around town, bridges, and other places. That will never be stopped, nor does uping an age limit change anything.
