Come on, France was against the war purely cos it gave them the opportunity to pretend it was a major power in the world. They got that chance by vetoing UN action against Iraq. They got involved with Afghanistan and had no problem with bombing Serbia without a UN mandate. With Iraq they just wanted to be awkward to show the world they were still a player...
