ha ha ha. what? slingy is pretty damn smart.
but for real, networking is key. it may not get you the summer job you want but being your last year coming up, you better put a huge effort into meeting the right people for after you graduate.
at school, they teach us all about the networking and give us a lot of opportunity to do it. i am sure, your school does the same. if it doesn't start a group of your own and have people with a criminology degree come in a talk to your group about how they scored their job.
