Had to download from iTunes since i couldnt find it anywhere else. Now before i say anything about this album i must admit that im one of those people who sometimes end up enjoying a piece of work after hearing it a few times.
After listening through the first time im pretty disappointed. Being a big fan of J00f himself and after reading all the great reviews i definately expected alot more out of this album.
One of my main concerns is that alot of the songs sound similar. The beat doesnt change all that much and most of the songs have a similar whooshy, windy sound in them.
The worst thing about this album in my opinion is that its a little minimalistic for my tastes. The best word that i could describe this ablum with is "anti-climatic." None of the songs were built up much, and the melodies, although few, never lead me anywhere i didnt expect.
On a positive note, this album is definately better sounding than Synthology which was the last J00F release. One thing i did like is that this album's theme (clouds, nature, etc) was visual and present in the music. There are not a lot of artists who do such a good job sticking with the theme as well as Whirloop here. Very respectable.
Maby after ahwile i'll find a likeing towards this album. Could be next week or it could be next year. Right now it just doesnt click for me. Perhaps I need some time to build an understanding to this style. Ill post my thoughts after i give it a few more spins. 5.5/10
