Best case scenario is that a judge will impose an injunction on the union and transit could be back up and running this afternoon. I figure it will be tomorrow before we can get back to work...

Sucks for those of us living out at the ends of the subway line. Mississauga, Brampton, Richmond Hill, etc. isn't too bad because of GO. If you work downtown, you get to Union and walk. I'm out at Islington and completely stranded... at least work is letting me work from home today.

is Mississauga transit running?

If I could get to islington, I could get to work...

Although those may be legitimate issues, there's a larger point here. The union could have:

-taken out ads in newspapers to educate the public on the issues
-handed out flyers at stations
-written letters to newspaper editors
-contacted local TV stations, with the hope of getting news coverage of the issues
-etc.

Instead, the union chose to go on strike. Why? As a show of strength, to send a message to the TTC, the City, and the Province that they want a piece of the new money for transit.

The medium (strike) is the message (we can shut the city down, so give us more money).
