well true.... but hopefully you are not extrordinarily narrow minded in your style. like... my first choice of stuff to mix might be, for instance, trance. but, i do like, and am influenced by many other styles of music... so there is quite a lot that i wouldn't mind mixing, and would probably have fun with it...
know what i mean?
oh... or what i thought of.... if your into jungle at all, give that a try. jungle remixes of hip hip sound pretty cool. for instance, jungle remixes of missy elliot tracks. mmm.
so... if youre eclectic in taste, im sure you can find some common ground of stuff that you'd like to play, and stuff that the crowd will like. if your hard pressed on playing a straight up trance set... then my guess is that unless your crowd is unlike most teenagers, you may have some trouble getting any energy out of them.
