Since you spit on 95% of music here, I'm curious what do you actually like, whether it's trance or not?

Great, another one of these.

1) I do not "spit on" 95% of music here
2) How is that even relevant to my post or this thread?
3) If you actually looked at my sig you wouldn't need to ask (tip: click on the grey box).

and yet again you go with the "your" music statement, if you mean music i produce or spin then yes, of course i realize i can look a lot farther back for the roots, only that they are completely irrelavant to this point in the discussion.
and on again also with the bests and the betters? i never said any music is better than any other music here, so stop reading false meaning into my words.

in the context of this thread, i have not claimed any music to be "my" kind of music. unlike you, i've kept as objective as possible.

in the context of this thread you canīt be objective. nooneīs right when it comes to "the way itīs supposed to be" question. i just hate when someone ridicules what others like, like Ishkur did. and you seemed to back him up on what he said.

there can be 'objectiveness' when there's a definition, when even the name of the genre suggests that very definition (parts of it at least).

and fyi, there is one such definition. (hint: check wikipedia)

yes, i know that.

but still, itīs in the way how you understand the question. where have you read the topic starter wants to know something about the trance roots? he just said what are his thoughts about how should trance sound like and asked us to give him some opinions.

The name of the genre suggests a subjective definition to begin with. It's like calling a genre 'music that's fun to listen to'.

...should the fact that objectiveness is impossible dissuade me from using that word?

let me put it this way... should a chocolate cake contain chocolate or at least taste like chocolate?

Objectivity is possible as long as you accept everyone's definition of the word. So if listening to elvis presley puts me in a trance, then it's trance music. So far you've been doing the opposite. You've been defining trance by your vision of it and yours alone.

of course it should. but you canīt compare chocolate (as thereīs absolutely clear itīs a word for some highly specific kind of "material" or "food") with trance (which, in case of music, is art, and talking about definitions itīs a state of mind - what makes it highly subjective then).

chocolate is a material thing, artīs not. art has a space to evolve and change and how we name it is only up to us cause itīs subjective.
