Best interface for a laptop is the Echo Indigo DJ:

4 channel 24 bit 96 kHz playback.

How do you go about doing pre-recorded sets in Ableton? I'm not interested in mixing live - I just want to piece tracks together for compilations for my car really for when I can't be arsed to use my decks.

I know where the arrangement section is, and I can drop tracks into it accordingly. From there I know how to warp the track i've dragged in. But after that I don't know how to mix the tracks i've added together.

Help me please. I can offer sexual favours.

I'm using Ableton 5.0.2

Use the record button to record the sets and all changes you make to volume and EQ and stuff. And also use the mixer in arrangement view to set up things you want to automate.

You have to mix it live while you are recording it. Use the session view for warping. Use autowarp then set the first warp marker (the green one) Then zoom in on the last beat and line it up. Voila! your track is warped perfectly.

Yea I know how to warp the tracks. But I was lead to believe that you could program sets in Ableton in a similar fashion to that of a program like Mixmeister. Have I been misinformed? I best not have been or I might have to unleash the wrath of my fury on the deceiver.

I don't like Mixmeister, I can't figure out how to beatmatch with it for shit.

In session view hit record then start playing and mixing your pre warped tracks. When done, switch to arrangement view, highlight everything, then file - render to disk.

Or if you dont wanna do it live then in arrangement view, drag first track in. Grab second track drag it along time line to wherever you want it to start mixing in, then third track etc etc. Afterwards manually draw in automation for eq's etc then select all and render to disk.

Personally I'd much rather just record it live in session view and go from there

Jeez, some of you guys can speak BS!You can mix it in the arrange window without recording it live. Do a search on www.abletonlivedj.com for a tutorial on warping then just drag your tracks into the Arrange page in order that you want to mix them, alternating the track and then you can automate the crossfader on the master track by double clicking the line and dragging it across. It's so easy it's like paint by numbers.
