My brother worked at a Shell where they had a krispy kreme fridge full of donuts. They had to be fresh from the same day, so every night, they'd throw out like two douzen donuts that weren't sold. They didn't directly put them in the trash, instead they put them in a thick sealed plastic bag, and then put that bag inside a new and clean green garbage bag and put them outside the store.

Moral of the story = What may look like garbage might actually be fresh donut heaven.
