I have been to the club almost every week since opening day...I only missed 1 week and I have to say I am also a little concerned about the #'s coming through the club. It is by no means dead, but based on all the excitement surrounding the opening, I thought it would be rammed every week! The product is great. The sound, the decor, the staff and security...everything is top notch. So what is wrong? I can only think price may have something to do with it. I don't even want to bring up the whole liquor license issue, but when your competition have licenses and are open until 7am, that may be something to consider as well. I personally think the advance price should be offered to all who arrive early...At least give those who are price sensitive the chance to get in cheaper. Last minute partiers who know they have to pay 30$+ to get in, are going to think twice before going.
Now for Grondin!!! He was resident at fly for many years but also played in montreal at Stereo for 2-3 years so far. Hearing him at FLY and STEREO would be different. FLY was obviously a little more on the gay vocal side, but at stereo he played a lot harder, which i imagine will be the way he plays on saturday. I can't really explain his style...I guess its the Montreal sound. |
Stephan out side of Fly, would be the hard chuggy tribal house. alot of his productions are like that,, even when they're a remix of a classic gay anthem like Ultra Nate's Free. hard beats with the underlying groove that gets the booty shaking.
