We apparently have different tastes in music. I guess you like housier and progressive/softer trance, because the first two or three hours which you classify as "nice" were just that. Not bad, but lighter sounds. The middle of the set did lag, you are correct. But that was mainly because he brought that cracked out looking chick to sing some songs, which kiiled the vibe and flow he had built up to that point.
As for banging out the last two hours, it was almost three hours, and thank God for it because that is what I paid for. It was conference, and every year during conference many people look forward to Tiesto putting away his trance-lite and commercial records and bringing it hard & nasty for a large part of his set - namely the last couple of hours. His conference sets @ Space in 2003, 2004 & 2005 were great because of the way he did so year in and year out.
We will see what he brings to the table next time. And yeah those circus acts were interesting. Now we know where all the money goes. |
bro, you couldnt be more way off. i like tiesto the way he banged it out the last two hours, the hi-nrg, tech sytle trance. its the fluff, vocal prog house, and softer trance that i really dont care too much for. the reason i liked his old space sets so much is because the sound was dark, hard, and energetic. and yes that chick did kill the vibe and flow of his set. and when i described the first part of the set as "nice", is my way of saying, ok, but nothing special.

No problem, it actually seems we agree more than we disagree about his WMC set this year. He clearly left the best for last.
I think the way he played this year as opposed to past years had more to do with his change in style, the release of his CD (ISOS 5), and the length of his set, and not with the change in venue from Space to Mansion. In fact a lot of the songs he played in the first two hours are on that CD, which this party was supposedly a kickoff event for.
Hopefully he leaves most of those records/CDS home next time around, plays another 7 hour marathon set, and gets the high energy stuff (uninterrupted by needless live vocalists) flowing earlier.
