The most interesting rappers to me are Talib Kweli, Common, The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest, Mos Def, Akon, Afu Ra, Lauren Hill, and even a little Kanye.
It didn't start with them either. And if you think the rappers on that list have never rhymed about parties and having a good time you are wrong.
You know nothing about hip hop.

Hip hop was born as party music. It was born because MCs would get onto the mic and start rapping and rhyming to whatever beat a DJ was playing, in an attempt to get a crowd going. That's how it began.

Lots of ghost producers we'll never know of.

As much as I hate the lyrical content and the image that most of todays commercial rap portrays I must say when you hear that stuff in a club with a sick sound installation it is pureeeeeeeee bliss.
Most of the commercial rap today is produced with bumping bass in mind and when you get to hear the stuff on a quality system it totally changes the mindset of what the music is.

I love it when dance producers tackle hip hop. stuff like:
David Guetta f. Stereo MC's - Open Your Eyes
Chemical Brothers f. Q-tip - Galvanize
Massive Attack f. Mos Def - I Against I
all tight tracks and better than 90% of the hip hop out right now imo.
