Thanks for the review Jasooon. Its a good one to review since we used CDJs and both of us were mixing.

really like this mix clovis...pretty seemless. tracks go really well together and the level are good.

Happens to be my favorite transition in this mix I was rly stoned by then and the vodka cranberries were starting to work. I think you can tell by the second half that we've got the flow going better, when we started to loosen up and the alcohol was kicking in abit

I agree with most of your points. About the volume issues, I think it had to do with the DJM-3000's linear faders whereas my xone has logarithmic (?) ones, which I prefer. Took me awhile to get used to them.

Thanks for the new link Jake

I love how you two always brag about how drunk and high you were while you mixed this, but whenever a messup happens... you blame it on being drunk and high...

first off, gotta love starting it off with Listen hehe . first two songs are great ones. as for the first transition, sounded like you rushed it a bit. i think you brought electric press in a little too early maybe about 16 beats too soon so they contrast a little towards the begining...sound a bit out of phrase. could also just be the tracks have weird phasing i dunno...if i remember correctly i don't think listen has much room there towards the end so it's understandable. anyway, sounds like they have the potential to mesh well so i'm sure if you did it a couple more times you'd nail it.

02. Electric Press - RE:valuate [bas] ---> 03. Replika - Don't Turn Back [clovis]

really like this mix out. tunes blend very well together, plus the replika track is catchy hehe and switches up the groove a bit...keeps it moving forward. not much else to say on that one...really nice. the different percussion elements, bit of a tribal feel, layed nicely over re:evaluate and like i said switched up the feel, but still moving forward...

03. Replika - Don't Turn Back [clovis] ---> 04. Jack Kilby - Integrated Circuit [clovis]

this one technically they are matched up and everything, but i dunno if i like these two tracks together. it might have to do with they are both kinda vocal sample based tracks and when they are layered over each other towards the beginning they clash a little because of that...it sounded good first off with just a couple intersparten samples from each, but when both tunes started with their vocals samples heavily on top of each other, i didn't think it went very well. in soviet russia, tracks don't like me...but personal preference not really a fan of this track. maybe i'd like it in a different place or different set though. hearing some of the knob tweaks in the song though, those were good...wasn't overdone and fit well.

04. Jack Kilby - Integrated Circuit [clovis] ---> 05. Sebastian Leger - Bad Clock [bas]

i think when you started to mix in you had it, but then it jumped off pretty quickly. sounded like you did get it back on again before finishing the mix out though. goes good out of the Jack Kilby track, but overall i dunno if these last two tracks went too well from where things were starting...jump was just a little too fast and interrupted the flow a bit. woulda liked to have heard another track or two that prepared me a little more for these last two...

05. Sebastian Leger - Bad Clock [bas] ---> 06. Audiomontage - Vision 2 Vision [bas]

pretty good mix here. i liked the transition out and how you let it soften out slowly. i think a little more EQing on the low end could tighten things up in the beginning of the mix other then that...pretty good.

06. Audiomontage - Vision 2 Vision [bas] ---> 07. Triple R - Polyester [clovis]

really like this track you're bringing in clovis...good transition idea. mix isn't perfect, at times it sounds a little off, but it also sounds like the tracks are a bit out of key so maybe that's why they aren't laying perfectly over each other. really like the transition idea though. going back to what i said before, i think this track is a good example of something i would preferred to have heard out of Replika. it's got a bit of a techy feel to it, but it's still melodic enough to not sound out of place with the tracks you guys started the set with. just think it would've flowed better because out of a track like this you could go anywhere...take it harder and bang it a little more or tease a little longer by throwing something that switches things up and keeps moving.

07. Triple R - Polyester [clovis] ---> 08. Silencer - Believing (Force Mass Motion Mix) [clovis]

pretty good transition here. i also like the fact that it's got a bit of a breakdown in there before banging the beat back in...would be good in the club. keeping the energy up, but still giving people a quick break make em wonder what's coming. if the break was much longer like some crap trance track it would probably kill the energy hehe, so good placement.

08. Silencer - Believing (Force Mass Motion Mix) [clovis] ---> 09. Underground Sound of Lisbon - Me Gusta [bas]

i really liked this transition from you bas, it sounded like it was slipping a little when you were bringing it in, but a good recovery. the tracks also just mesh well together i love that little vocal snippet from Me Gusta in the beginning...goes great with believing. again though i kind of feel another jump in the energy that's maybe a little too dramatic. i kinda feel like we just got to the peak of our energy and now it's dropping off again. the transition is fine, but it's just i think the way the set has flowed leading up to this point doesn't fit. if there had been a little more of a consistent flow earlier in the set this would fit in well. but yeah i really like this track from you.

09. Underground Sound of Lisbon - Me Gusta [bas] ---> 10. Chris Micali & Reavey - STOP [bas]

i like the transition idea on this one, but it was a little off. sounds like a difficult mix to make because of me gusta. i would also EQ a litte more on the me gusta highs there. that little twinkle sound is a little too prominent and seems to emphasize the fact that the mix is a bit off. these tracks do go well out of each other so yeah like i said i like this one...flows real nice.

10. Chris Micali & Reavey - STOP [bas] ---> 11. Madoka - Friday Night Hero [clovis]

really like this mix clovis...pretty seemless. tracks go really well together and the level are good.

11. Madoka - Friday Night Hero [clovis] ---> 12. DJ Chus - World Roots (Muzzaik Remix)[clovis]

another really solid mix here. really tight mix and everything is really great together. the only thing i would say though is when that first big symbol crash comes in on World Roots, i wouldn't give so much of a volume boost to it. the tracks are sticking so well together there's no need to kill down friday night hero as much be a little more subtle about it. save the volume to use with world roots bassline and then with the final mix out and just use smaller volume steps in the other places you did. it'll sound a lot smoother and you want people to feel how on the mix is...also a really nice track.

12. DJ Chus - World Roots (Muzzaik Remix)[clovis] ---> 13. Stereofunk - Hip Hop Hurra (Funkwerkstatt Mix)[bas]

this is your best mix of the set so far bas, you really stuck it. i would say actually the opposite of what i just said to clovis on this one though. they are stuck really nicely, but you need to take the volume up a little more that bassline for hip hop hurra because you see what happened? you didn't take the volume up enough on that and the vocal so you ended up with a section there after the mix out where it felt a bit empty because all the percs from world roots dropped out and it was a bit of a dead spot. if you take that volume up a little more on those bassline entries and leave those tribal drums a little more distant, you won't have that dead spot. you want to kill the previous track before an obvious spot like that just left it in a little too long...i woulda killed world roots at the start of the vocal. if you take them out at that phrase, it'll feel better.

13. Stereofunk - Hip Hop Hurra (Funkwerkstatt Mix)[bas] ---> 14. Paolo Mojo - 1983 (Eric Prydz Mix) (Clovis & Bas Everybody In 83 Edit) [clovis]

now there's the efx500 hehehe . (atleast that's what i think i here hehe) sounded pretty good. i thought i might have heard a spot or two more earlier where it was used for a sec or two, but i wasn't too sure hehe. pretty good transition there. also i know i already told you clovis, but i liked your guys edit. the vocals go good with the track. one thing i would say though, i think it would sound a little better if you could kinda push "wants some love" and "need some love" a little deeper into the background. don't think they should be at the same position in the mix as everybody. as far as how to do that, well maybe reverb them seperately so you can get a little deeper sound...also i would suggest panning on to the left and one to the right to move them to the back ground. for example "wants some love" (panned to the left) and "needs some love" (panned to the right) about 7-10 degrees each way. i think it would sit a lot nicer in the mix and sound more professional.

14. Paolo Mojo - 1983 (Eric Prydz Mix) (Clovis & Bas Everybody In 83 Edit) [clovis] ---> 15. Paytric & Nogales - Everyday [bas]

pretty good mix here bas, but it's a little off i'm sure you can hear it. really like this tune too...very nice and catchy. sounds like the producer put a little too much reverb on there track though...the percussion is a little weak too. but man it's catchy...

15. Paytric & Nogales - Everyday [bas] ---> 16. Lostep - Burma (Sasha Remix) [clovis]

oh snap some more efx500 on everyday there hahaha...nice. sounded really good. but yeah i dunno is that something you did or is it just everyday is a little too reverbed?...because it sounds a little too distant...not too sure about the mix on this one. definitely a harder track to mix...i would just keep playing with it and see what different ways you could mix it because i think they should like they could go better together. good tracks though...oh snap some more ex500 going on hehehe...i like that bit of a sutter beat you did there

anyway overall i thought it was a great mix. i think if anything like i said, i think the jack kilby and sebestien leger tracks were a bit out of place and threw the flow off for the first-half of the mix. me gusta was in the right position, but since the energy was a bit up down up down the first half, it made it sound too dramatic of a drop off. the second half after me gusta flowed really nice and the transitions seemed to improve as well...so yeah pretty good effort.

and i dunno if you both were doing efxz0rs or just clovis, but they were pretty good...of course they need some tightening, but good first effort definitely...

I will be expecting something similar for my 60 track mix please. Can't be showing favourtism now can we?
