Basically, for those that's aren't aware, I broke my leg, and did a good job too apparently.
Now your next question probably is, "How did you do that?"
Well, dispite years of rugby, and just getting into a great routine with my weight training, I slipped... trying to run into a family photo!
Let me build the story for you...
Was in B.C. at my grandma's 75th surprise Bday, we were taking a family photo and I just put my camera on a 10 sec. time delay.
As I was running around the right side of my family to get behind them, my left foot slipped on the grass and I fell over backwards, overtop of my left ankle which didn't 'kick out' while falling.
We drove back to Edmonton the next day with me in the back seat, leg elevated and on and off ice packs.
The next morning after that was my flight back to Toronto where we immediately went to the St.Michael's Emergency Ward after landing.
They diagnosed a fracture of my tibular bone near the bottom 'socket' area because that's the area where the bone, 'popped' out for a second during the fall.
They give me a temp. cast and a week later, I go back only to find out that I actually have two fractures, one higher up in the Fibula, kitty-corner to the original one!
Happily it's a clean break and will heal fine.
(Finally some light in this dark tunnel of work's never ending HR paperwork!)
Anyways, they're going to operate on the lower portion of my ankle to put in two screws to help bring my two legs bones to the position they're supposed to be in.
Ligaments were damaged during the fall and now they aren't holding the bones in the right place for it to heal properly.
It's that or forego the surgery and have problems with arthritis down the road because of uneven wear. No thanks!
And that's the story of my suckage...
Happily I have a new computer to keep me amuzed during the day... |
hey jeff hope you get better soon
