Everyday I wake up and EDM stays out of the American mainstream culture I thank the music gods. Luckily for EDM, the American populace is pretty xenophobic when it comes to culture. You rarely see foreign films or foreign music getting awards at the big American award festivals. You rarely see fußball (soccer) on television. There is a fear/mistrust/whatever you want to call it of things imported from other countries. Therefore (thankfully) the media and marketing folks can't get their hands on this wonderful genre of music and do to it what they did to hip hop.
