I wanted to know what you predict will change in how we listen to music and how it will change "the SCENE". I know there are a lot of you sceners that browse this forum and I hope this post can reach out to you and how you release music. Perhaps ripping albums as single tracks instead of one big mp3 file with a cue.

I want to know what you think about this new milestone in listening to EDM.

Personally, I cant wait for the day we can listen to Armin's A State Of Trance Radio Show as single tracks on my ipod without worying about the 2second skip, continuously for 2 hours. :-)

I put all of my sets onto my IPod as one set. It's not a hassle to skip through the set if I want to go to a certain point. I have one CD on my IPod as individual tracks, and the gap is far less than two seconds and isn't even an inconvenience.

Gaps between tracks isn't the end of the world.

There's an option in iTunes that updates the tracks on your iPod as soon as you start iTunes with iPod plugged in. You can turn that option off.

How often do you guys defragment your iPod's harddrive?

Also, rockbox has been able to do this for a while and also, I hate iTunes, because I run on an older system I find it to be a massive RAM whore.

Well, yeah, it wasn't really a full 2 second gap, but still, it's better when the gap is even shorter.

Btw, I restore my iPod's HDD whenever I'm updating my music on it.

I never loved my iTunes so much. Version 7 is what I call an awesome update. The design is great, the software is great.
Not only the gapless Playback is great, but some of the "smaller" improvements (such as "album interpret" tag) are VERY good.

Coverflow was also integrated very well once again, and it works like a dream. Of course you need the covers of the tracks/albums etc, and the tags have to be well entered. Otherwise it will result in cover chaos. But my personal collection is carefully tagged and I love it.

For me version 7 makes iTunes the best mp3 organizer available..

It would be HUGE if iTunes/iPod read cue files.

Untill then, yawn.

No, it is the mp3. Mp3 compression requires several ms of blank space at the begining and end of any song. Just simply how the frames require setup.

A) How long do i have before it deletes everything with it's update
B) Will I be able to add songs or it's going to update with the new library and fuck me?

lame encoded mp3 has a header that can do gapless...

I hear various people from hydrogenaudio.org confirm that it is very close to true gapless(only 20ms delay or so), and it is definitely not the crossfading shit.
