I've been weary of this mix, I dunno. I waited two days before posting it...listening to it a few times. I like it. But sometimes I wonder if I could have done better...(but then dont us DJs wonder that after every mix?). I'm eager to see what people think, but I'm definatley glad you liked this Rob. I like this mix alot because it is very diverse while keeping a good flow imo. Its a good representation of the music I like...I cant just play one genre, minimal/tech/breaks/house/prog etc...I like them all.


The preparation mirrored that of "Drop Deep"...started with a few ideas, fucked around for awhile, filled in the blanks while doing so, and then drank some whiskey and hit record. This mix also has the least amount of ableton effects used of any of my Live mixes.


I have yet to get baked and ride the red line with this mix, which will be the real test of its worthyness for me

If it makes you feel any better, I hate, and I mean HATE (I wouldn't even listen to one of them during the 30+ hours in the car to and from New York) pretty much every set I've ever posted here... I just grow to hate them after a while...

You're always going to be your own worst critic...

Man, I wouldnt go so far as hate, but I def am my own worst critic.

I usually make a mix, listen to it obsessivly for a week or so and analyse its minutiae...then I shelve it for a month. Bust it out later while stoned on a random evening. Because then its like hearing it all over again. And if its a good mix on that listen, then its probably a pretty good mix

Yeah bro, I guess that happens with me, but honestly, I always hear something that I wish I'd done differently... It's not that I think they're the worst sets out there, it's just that I listen to stuff from you, Bas, Greg, Bobby, and all these other great DJ's out there, and I love them. I absolutely love them.

But then when I listen to my own, regardless of how much I may like them, I always find those parts... Those things I'd have done differently... I don't know man, perhaps it's a self confidence thing, but yeah, I guess I always just expect more from myself...

That's weird though- I love my old sets- and listen to them a lot. I like to think back to how i thought then. So i dont forget ideas and concepts. Some I like more than others, but I still love the tunes I used and the way I built them. But then again, I hate my own artwork, and cant look at it without cringing.

I could never put together a mix like this. The only tune I didn't think really fit the mix was "It's Majick". It's a nice tune, but I loved how epic and powerful the Alex Under tune was, I just didn't think it had the energy. Luckily you brought it back up with Outhouse. I always liked this mix the best as well. Well, the Umek mix is pretty dope too...

The build felt very controlled and smooth, the percussive elements of each track lined up very well and at points seemed almost static, just driving along the ever more uplifting and powerful melodies and basslines. This is a tactic I would love to learn, you nailed the drums on the first half of this mix especially.

The second half of the mix was definetely the weaker half and I thought the energy levels jumped a bit more and you lost a bit of the tightness that I was loving in the first half. Not to say the latter half wasn't good- it was, it just didn't fit together as well as the first half. I think this started at the breakbeat tune- which is at almost the exact half way mark. The tune after it didn't have the full sound it did I don't think-

All in all a good mix. Not your best I'd say (I still think Drop Deep has this beat) but a very good effort.

Just listened and this is very very good. Almost on par with Drop Deep, in fact I'd say it stays on par except towards the end it starts to die out a bit. The second to last and I think third to last tunes weren't exactly my thing, but closing on Outhouse was class. The mixing as always was superb, I actually did lose my place as to where the tracks began and ended (probably since I'm not familiar with most of the tracks, but also due in large part to the flawless and inventive mixing). It has a very 'subway' feel to it of long, expansive, dark tunnels and stops. It's quite nice.
