there's a few exceptions.
obviously i know u more from anjuna forums.. but ur into music and learning. only thing is your age prevents you from going to these parties.
on the other hand. there's ppl like i read in the armin review, walking in the choo choo train and bumping into the mirrors at space. obviously going for the wrong reasons.
i just think if all these lil kids can go to a hip hop club and say 'YO that's the new Jay Z tune'.. then why can't they put that effort into edm.
PvD doesnt only spin PVD tracks.. Same with Tiesto and all the other dj's they sweat. |
Mel,
what you fail to understand is that although some kids do it the wrong way, they all have their own unique way of having fun. some actually enjoy the music for what it is, music. some enjoy it for the simple fact that they know drugs are fun as s#!t when you listen to repetitive beats..and some people are just tools looking for some a$$ on the dancefloor to take home. either way, its their way of having fun and as long as it doesnt physically hinder your good time, i dont see why you would feel bothered with all of it.
besides, its not like they are throwing cups or napkins your way..then they'd really be in for it. LOL
just a .02 from me. I remember all those fun times when i did all of that and eventually got to REALLY like the music. but face it..the scene is what you make of it. if you dont like those parties, just dont go. You have had the privilege of going to see great dj's play all over the united states and these little kids ask their parents for cash to get into a local club to see a dj that blows their minds..let them. those kids are just as much a fan of the music as you are..just in a different way. may not be the way you like it, but nonetheless, its a way that they do
ps- i do feel you on the whole whistle thing though..i cant stand that. but it used to be some fruity kid with frosted tips and a shirt 6 sizes too small that used to do it. lol i think they banned him..i havent seen him in like a year! or maybe he's in rehab...one can only hope

case in point...any large place has much to gain by catering to a crowd that has little or no chance to hear the sounds of some of todays biggest dj's. Although the younger masses bring in alot of money and audience to the club, it comes with a negative consequence..mostly being that you will have young people abuse liquor and drugs and use the venue for something other than the appreciation of good music (who, ironically, grow up to be the adults we see so often doing the same thing). Although many of us try to forget the days when we too used to do lines of white, and fun little pills and delicious brownies before, during, and after the club..it has really gotten overboard these days.. we don't look down on the kids because they do that... we look down on them because they lose control and abuse that, which is something many of us learned NOT to do.
And if you want to nip the problem in the butt, speak to the promoters and the people who sell presales, like Seasunz and company. they may be doing a good job bringing dj's into the scene and making the scene accessible to teenagers, but as much as they network with kids that are into the music, they network much more with the little druggies you see so often at Space/Metropolis/Nocturnal etc...
Sadly, if not, you are gonna find that alot of people (including some people i used to know very close to me) will be caught od'ing in clubs and/or passed out in the alleyways or behind the club with alot of the homeless people who hang around.
