you will be happy that you havent actually got your hands and wallet in to it. i have been there and done that and i will be the first to tell you that its the biggest waste of money. i spent quite a bit of money on my last car but i only have minor things done to my current vehicle for better handling.

Any hobby is essentially a waste of money unless you are really really good at it.

I wouldnt say waste. I dont live to work, I work to live, and my hobbies are essentially the only thing I really have to spend my money on, besides the bills.
I sunk over 20K into my last project car, I have a room full of expencive sound equipment, and I have three snowboards and a bag full of gear.
I dont regret the spending one bit, and I make squat doing my hobbies, even though I am really good at all of them. Not to mention the variety of good people I have met who share the same intrests as me, was worth all the money and time invested into my hobbies.
