how would a 24-hour subway would address this problem, when there's night buses going all the way to Steeles?

It's about fucking time. Obviously the people in this thread who say it's pointless have not taken the vomet comet enough times to know how much of an unpleseant experience it is. In the winter, a lot of times I won't even bother going out knowing that I have to take the comet home.

Dude I've taken night buses/streetcars more times than you can imagine. Not just after parties, but the gazillion times I've finished work past 1am and was forced to take a streetcar home. The travel time was always nearly identical. Other than comfort level I don't really see that much of a difference.
I think there's bigger priorities on the TTC's hands at the moment, such as maybe developing the current train system so more area's are accessible via light rail, which would in turn eliminate the need for buses, thus creating less traffic problems. Punctuality is another problem they really need to work on. Like I said though, extending the service until ~3:00AM would make a lot more sense than 24-hour service.
