Lol well there goes the last problem I could think of in live... I personally like the project management, I can see where some people might like to have more advanced features like being able to hide certain types of tracks and track folders etc... Still its a solid environment.
I can't see whats wrong with the midi implementation sorry but then again, I come from pro tools!

Floating windows! (Session, Arrangement, Clip, Track, Browser)

I was really disappointed that they didn't incorporate this in Live 6. That would have made Live near perfect.

Maybe thats the point! Isnt that a little of the taktics of product development, to NOT make everything perfect!? Who knows what they will make better the next time........

Yup, that's possible. A small example.
Make 3 MIDI tracks where MIDI 1 is just some notes and insert your favorite VST's on MIDI 2 and 3.
Now do both for MIDI 2 and 3 (in Session View):
- Make sure I-O is highlighted on the righthand side (next to the master fader). This will open up the routings under each track.
- For MIDI 2 and 3 set the 'MIDI from' to 1-MIDI (in the routings under each track).
- Set 'Monitor' to 'In' and you'll see a MIDI-keyboard appear above it.
- Play your sequence!

You can also have a VST on MIDI 1 btw. Just keep that one on 'Auto'.

Personally I just copy MIDI notes etc. to each track instead of routing it this way.
Hope this clears it up a bit for you .

Ah lovely, thanks for that, I had it all worked out except for the setting monitor to "in" bit.
I can see why you would just copy them tho, its kind of complicated!
Thanks again

Does anyone happen to have a first hand experience with Live 6? Is it worth the upgrade? What are some of the major features you say would make it worth the admission price?

Also, my take on live 5 is that midi editing is not as flexible as say... Sonar. Keep in mind that my live 5 experience is "novice" and I may be missing something. has it been improved in live 6?

Thanks for feedback.

ejay was a program where u chose loops and sat them together in a crappy sequencer.. in the newer versions i think they added the ability to create your own melodies as well..

IMO the only important feature is multiprocessor support. The rest range from nice (instrument rack) to useless (video support). They didn't expand MIDI capabilities or remove the annoying limitation that only the first 32 or so VST parameters are visible in the automation list, which is highly annoying. There are a few workarounds for this, but they're not perfect. Doh.

No they didn't touch it. Yea there are few advanced MIDI features in Live (no flam, strum, staccato and the likes), but so far I haven't really missed them, and the quick and uncluttered GUI of Live is very important for me.
