I used Reason for 2 years, then moved to Cubase. For me personally, the change was like night and day. To each his own though just use what works best for you.

Yea i do that in Reason... i usually start with the basic default sound in Malstrom and Subtractor... and then i tweak my way from there into what i'm looking for since there is a bunch of ways to tweak the wave forms...

i'd like incorporate Cubase but the whole rewire thing doesn't really work for me.

you were saying something about having a VST drum machine that works well... can you suggest some more?

i love Redrum and so far none of the other vst drum machines i found come close... i'd like to try some other ones out though.

i use reason 3.0 solely myself and have found it to be a great program with minimal issues. i learned off of 1.0 and then jumped to 3.0 and have been very happy with it. the "reason" sound is only apparent on mixes when someone uses patches and presets AND/OR doesnt know how to fully maximize the combinator and create totally flawless, non-"reason" sounds. but it sucks cuz it doesnt have alot of the audio/midi tools that live and cubase have which is why 90% of those who use reason alone dont get released i think. but thats why they created rewire right? haha. someone else said reason only limits you as much as you let it and i couldnt agree more. if you dont spend the time to really understand the prog then yeah youll prolly turn out some stereotypical "reason" track. but if you work with the limitations and create something special by using those limitations to your advantage, youll make something pretty cool i think. least thats what i have been trying to do. every track ive turned out on here has been done solely in reason and if u have taken a listen to my tracks i think having heard that its all in reason 3 would probably really surprise you cuz i think personally theres absolutely no "reason" sound in my tracks. my opinion of course. CANT WAIT TO GET CUBASE THOUGH! thatll be like night and day i think.

i used to use malstrom alot

now it's almost all subtractor simply because of the ability to easily change oneor both the wave forms and then mix them together, or make one more dominant... then i also like to use the random frequency change to the sync of the track onpads alot... gives it such a presence if it's tweaked right.
