The news said that the Harper government cut funding for this event. Combine this with only 7000 attendance, and the picture looks grim for this event to happen again.
That leaves only Celebration and BeB.
what the fk are you talking about? this is a fundraising event, and one year of 'poor attendance' isn't going to change anything.
this isn't 514 productions. remember that.

the decline of attendance most likely has to do with all of the outgames hoop la this summer. All the out of towners who would have come to black and blue, probably went to this instead.
as far as charity thing goes, harper cut the funding because of the contrversy surrounding the "fundraising".

there you go. You have Nic Fancuilli and Steve Lawler, Victor Calderone floating around here and not one of them booked for a massive? Chus and Ceballos for 2.5 hours only? They were cutting corners for sure. Marketing was so non existant, one could find WMDs in Iraq easier than finding info on BnB..
They were smart...
They skipped on marketing and high DJ costs so they could make more money...
Know anyone else in Montreal who can throw a rave and attract 7000 with Chus & Ceballos and Antoine Clamaran alone?

You sayin there would have been even more gays in attendance? Mercy. It seemed like it was 75 percent or so, even more than last year.

black and blue is open to everyone, but has always been an event geared towards the gay community.
bal en blanc was the same once upon a time.

Black and Blue was like 80% gay in my opinion. Who gives a shit though? I wasn't bothered once, everyone is just there to have fun.

yeah, I got leered at a few times but no biggie. The only thing is that if you go with homophobes, they (the homophobes) can be a bit of a buzz kill. There were plenty of hot women there for sure too.
I hope BnB stays around. We are down to three indoor ones so TAs gotta show show their support.

last part of his set was bumpin' but the first part was fugedaboutit. BnB's blown it two years in a row with its bookings. Tenaglia's a solid dj, have heard some of his sets, just outstanding, and many TAs have supported him.. but he dropped the ball last year too.

The thing with Antoine is that he went from deep house to funk. Kind of trippy for the senses... you're not sure what style he's going for compared to the other DJ's who stayed true to their sound...
He played funky town... I mean... come on...
Chus & Ceballos still outplayed everyone there. Marc Anthony played so dark obscure shit and charles Poulin played some tech-prog...
I kept thinking about Sasha behind the booth... Fuck now there's a Black and Blue even the homophobes can't say no to.
