Pls tell me you didn't live in this town this past June.

I am an hour away from toronto. St. kitts is one hour drive. And thats fine but 2.5 hour trust me you wont make it toronro every weekend unless you can stay there overnight.

Good thing about living in a small town, things are cheaper like rent or night life .

Good luck, if you accept that position.

Yep I would.

Love living in KW. Just the right size. Plus Toronto isn't that far.

hell no.

the relaxed pace would be nice...as would be the cheaper cost of living (assuming similar income)...and the sense of community that is harder to find here.

but the lack of cultural diversity...the small town, conservative mentality...the 'everyone knows everyone' thing? not my cup of tea.

My ideal compromise would be to live in the city and own a vacation property in a small town. The above "pluses" for small towns could easily be satisfied for me in small quantities...but would annoy me in everyday life, I guess.

it's not just about being young and single. I'd actually rather raise a family downtown too...and expose them to the diversity and cultural options a big city offers.

Im having the same worries as you. Right now im in fremont which is a small city but is 45 minutes away from san francisco and even that seems out of the way at times.

Problem is im only here for another month before training gets over and they place me on a project and in the consultancy field you can end up anywhere. Friend of mine just got placed on a project with Wels Fargo bank in sioux falls, south dakota which is as bad a state as it can get but he told me that there are both upsides and downsides if you compare it to california.

Obviously the sad part is the lack of nightlife and possible street smart people but at the same time the work conditions arnt so stressful, the people are a lot more easy going and sometimes allow you to work from home if the weather is horrible. Youd never find that sort of stuff on the east/west coast.

I guess the key is that as long as you know people in the area, you should be set else it can get a bit miserable. Personally, i couldnt care less about a lack of an edm seen if the money and work environment are good and i know a decent set of people there.

I was born and raised in TO until I was 12. Then my parents decided to move out of TO into a small town of only 1200 ppl (Ayr).
It was f**king hell. My parents would know what I did that night before I even got home cuz everyone knew everyone. I hated every minute of it and don't know if I could ever live in a small town again. As soon as I could afford it, I moved to the nearest city being KW and it is still too small for me I think.
(but it is still cheaper for me to live here and drive back and forth to TO when I want to I think. My expenses aren't as much as they would be living in the bigger city)

I lived in Toronto for the first 13 years of my life. I was pissed when my family moved to Collingwood, and I didn't really start having fun for 4 years. But I truly found myself in that town, and discovered theatre, acting, and playwriting. So now, I am doing something I love everyday of my life. If I had stayed in Toronto, I would NEVER have been exposed to these things. I enjoy living in the city again, but small-town life definitely had a positive impact on my personality.

As for electronica scenes... Collingwood had a decent scene, and I am sure Jaime would contest this as well... because we had AWESOME nights at Monsoon Lounge. (though I am not sure how active the scene is since Nathan and I are gone...)
