Oh alex, btw.. there has to be a headphone jack because if you look, right under the knobs.. tehres a headphone button for each side of the mixer..

how bad is behringer equpiment? the features of the unit look quite pleasing compared ot hte m-audio though.. you dont even have to lift your hands to the mosue or keyboard (maybe if youre loading htrough tracks but im sure that can be programmed to one of hte buttons )

Alot of people on the Ableton Live DJ forums seem to have BCR/BCF2000s and swear by them. I guess they can't be that bad. As for myself, I think I may just pick up a UC33 and an X-Session today.

The X-Session. In combination with the UC33, I should be pretty much set to go with Ableton. Plus both of them together will do just as much as the X-Session Pro and more, albeit the regular version seems to be a little bit more expensive than the Pro.

kind of ironic.. usually a "pro" should be more money lol.. how i see it, the pro is more for using dj software and the regulra is more for ableton cuz its all rotary knobs?

grrr what to do what to do, really leanin towards to the behringer .. not so much the hercules cuz i dont see anything worth a $250 price tag over the $143 of the behringer with i think teh same features

I suggest this X-session Pro, it looks as though it has an authentic Mixer feel to it. For the record I use a BCR2000 for my EQs/effects + M-Audio Project mix (I alternate it as my volumes/filters for Djing and its real use, for production!) for volumes+filters.

I may consider buying this thing though, just to see if it's a toy or not.

They could have made a better x-session than before, and instead we get a toy dj console. Lame. Give me more knobs, more stuff I can decide what to use MYSELF...

They have a demo unit of the X-Session Pro on display at Moog Audio downtown, on St-Laurent boul. I played around with it abit, it's a little big bigger than I thought, which is nice, since it didn't look like a toy.

They had a few in boxes, but no demo units that I could see.

The X-Session Pro doesn't have a headphone jack, I'm 99% certain. I have the older version and it does not have one, it has Midi-in, Midi-out, and USB jacks. Headphone stuff needs to actually be done using your computer soundcard or an external mixer, depending on the user software and configuration.

I haven't yet seen those 2 headphone switches and the other buttons explained. But if it is similar to the original design, the user's music software allows assignment of most of the knobs and buttons to different purposes. So the user doesn't need to use the controls the way they are labelled.

With the original X-Session although it looks less DJ-ish you can set it up so it works pretty good, for 2 channels anyway with Traktor. I have mine set with level and 3 band EQ for 2 channels, kill switches on each band from 6 of the 10 assignable buttons, bandpass filter on one channel (L or R depending on "focus"), headphone volume and headphone mix, master volume, and 2 buttons for headphone preview channel selection. With the X-S Pro it has a better layout for 4 channels but I suspect I won't really need 4, and their button switches are labelled so they're best for deck control start/stop etc but I guess I could re-assign them.

Overall the Pro isn't really a big step forward from the original, the controls are just in a different layout. If I wanted to upgrade and still use just one midi box I'd probably be better off to go to the UC-33 or something else. Maybe using both the original and Pro versions of the X-Session boxes (cabled together with midi) would be another way to control Traktor 3.

My X-Session layout for Traktor 2.53:
