Thats true, and it may help a little, but the guys who have moved up in the list apart from Van Doorn i think have all played here many time and Kyau and Albert once.
I guess the higher the position for the dj, that sort of determines whether they play at a festival or club night. I.e SVD (#32 new entry) at Future Festival, my argument is that it’s not going to bring more trance to Australia, rather just different djs…
However, if these new artists can bring an innovative sound and justify their higher ranking then this may contribute to a rise in the trance scene. The PVD’s, Armins and M.I.K.E’s will continue to come and have for the last 4-5 years and do their thing but has it helped while the sound was out of favour?
Its not dissimilar to progressive, as it’s a specialised and unique sound.. the last few years have seen prog djs rise in their position of this poll and it has still faced a decline in the EDM world. This year, all of them have gone backwards (some to possible extinction), and its probably 2-3 years too late of actually where the sound is and represented throughout the world.
I think next year we are going to see all these electro djs/producers come through like Axwell and Angello have this year.
You and I agree that it all runs in cycles and fingers crossed its only 2-3 yrs away because by then I’ll be 30
