I feel there is a certain type of trance that is better when you are stoned.
A few important rules in track selections:
No Vocal Stuff. I love it too, but most vocal trance songs aren't chill enough. They tend to be too uplifting or emotional. So unless it's smooth chill vocal trance, ignore it. An exceptable chill vocal song would be BT - Dreaming (DJ Tiesto Remix).
Nothing with an incredibly slow build up to the good part. You will get bored. You are stoned, you have a short attention span. So put away the Urban Train Promo. It's a great track, I love it, but it takes too long. The payoff isn't worth the wait when your stoned.
Mixes work better then just individual tracks, cause then you get that smooth conversion feeling, and you can drift. Those seconds of silence can kill the mood. Unfortunately, only Chicane really plays entirely chill livesets, and they have wayyy too many vocals.
It can't be too fast, and it can't be too dark. I recommend dreamy, beach-like tracks.
Some example of good stoned trance would be:
Tastexperience - Tantrix
Kamaya Painters - Summerbreeze
Orinoko - Island
Lexicon 4 - Reach Me
Ralphie B - Massive
Push - Tranzy State of Mind (This is one of those inbetween tracks. It's fast, but the synths kick so much ass, and it's so trippy that it balances out the speed)
Paul Van Dyk - Autumn
Loop Control - Reflections
Gouryella - Gouryella (The second part balances out the first)
DJ Tiesto - Theme from Norefjell
Rank 1 - Airwave
Chicane - Offshore
Chicane - Overlap
Chicane - Don't Give Up (Vocals are more mellow, even if a bit touchY)
This is the type of good stuff I recommend when you are totally stoned. Just my opinion, but I think if you try it, you will enjoy.
