I'll take your word for this, although I do know that if you get an ACL operation... which basically involves scraping of meninscal cartliage etc... that you have a higher potential risk of getting osteoarthritis in the future as well.

But yeah I would've thought he'd have gotten it for sure since he works out... I remember doing chinups at the gym, and on you know landing on the floor, displaying my knee... the pathetic thing was I couldn't scream (because of the pain + the anger aftermath) although I wanted to because of all the people there... so I 'grimaced' in silence.

At this point, arthritis is inevitable for me. I think the only way I will get it fixed now is if I tear it completely. At my age, if I were to go and replace it now I fully believe that I will never achieve the level of athletic ability that I am at right now, again. So I will try to milk at as long as I can and then one day, when I have kids to divert my attention during my nine months of rehab, I'll get it done.

Well I think it has to do with the long-term meniscus damage that occurs from lack of an ACL, which far outweighs the slight damage which may occur to the meniscus during the operation (of which I wasn't even aware, are you sure?).

Well when the ACL tears, there's often meniscal damage aswell...

And as you say when your ACL tears, there's gonna be an aftermath of meniscal damage...

So yeah both ways meniscal damage... and there's always some shitty miniscal cartliage which is in the fluid in the tissue because it's just been worn off etc... so in surgery I think they remove this excess, unnecessary cartliage.

But I think the point is that because there's all this meniscal cartliage been removed which you know:
1. Gives your joints fluid movement (thus with less, more scrapage, more pain and the customary pain with osteoarthritis sufferers) and
2. Prevents exposure of inflammatory chemicals to the bone which causes bone degradation and thus osteoarthritis

I guess you can only look on the positive side and be thankful that it wasn't any life threatening

hasn't done anything major in a while, but god....back when i was really in shape and beating the shit out of my body i had some bad experiences.
basically if i twisted my upper leg and bottom legs in opposite directions, even with very little force for just an instant, occasionally they'd dislocate and pop right back in
