Frankly Jayx, there is only one answer - no decent challenge. You support Pitfield for ideological reasons, however she was never in contention and that may be a good thing. Her assertion that she could expand the subway at $100 million/km is ludicrous - It cost more than double that to build the Sheppard line.
Although people in the 905 may be unhappy with Toronto council, citizens in T.O. didn't have a problem with a council that accomplished little. There wasn't anything to vote for, and there wasn't much to vote against (that hadn't been voted against in the last municipal). This equals contentment with the status quo and that's what emerged at the end of election night.
I agree with the right wing that the Bombardier deal was terrible for the city, but the average voter isn't concerned with the mechanics of the deal, just that a deal gets done. At the end of the day, Miller delivered, even if the price wasn't the best.
Is shipping garbage a good idea? Hell no, however incineration is even less palatable to Toronto voters and Miller certainly isn't going there anytime soon. Essentially, voters went with the devil they knew versus the devil they didn't.
