hell no, not showing ID is one thing, asking a person to leave is another, but tazing them to the floor is bullshit. the police should of used brute force to cuff him, meaning grab him by the arm and escort him out, if he resisted then he shoulda just been cuffed and gone over night.

you can't justify harming an individual for an attitude, if that was the case, people would be shot all the time in NYC.

Oh and a ruling in the favor of the police officer sets a clear precedence for any case going forward to allow officers to taze as they please. What the hell happen to protecting and serving us when at any instant we can get tazered?

Want to know why I say this, because in NYC there are millions of people walking around with mp3 players and their earbuds in, god forbid you don't hear the officer request your attention should that be grounds for being tazed?

think about it and the reprecussions it may have if it's not properly handled and justice isn't PROPERLY served.

I agree, there are rules atleast here in this country about giving wrong information to police, or refusing to identify yourself, but that should be handled totally differnt.

Any news on what is going to happen?
The police officers best get there due.

That video destressed me a litt,e as imagine your in that blokes position that the police are treating you bad, and once they have you in their car, on the way to the police station, they are in control, and theres no way out at the time.

I'm appauled.

This is the best part

Tabatabainejad was also stunned with the Taser when he was already handcuffed, said Carlos Zaragoza, a third-year English and history student who witnessed the incident.

"(He was) no possible danger to any of the police," Zaragoza said. "(He was) getting shocked and Tasered as he was handcuffed."

Sadly, most Americans in 2006 will say it's his own fault for being belligerent and not showing his ID quick enough, especially since he's an arab.

If you don't believe me, check out one of the lastest Anderson Cooper 360 blogs about Cyrus Kar, an American citizen and former Navy SEAL, who was captured by Americans in Iraq while shooting a movie on Cyrus the Great. He was in a cab where they found washing machine timers (which are used for IEDs apparently), but the driver confessed to owning the timers, not Kar. More than half of the 70 people who have responded so far think it's his own fault for being captured, held and tortured for 55 day, because he was in Iraq and is of Arab descent. Truly sickening.

http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/and...ribes-iraq.html

If I was him and being an ex SEAL, I'd teach the insurgents everything I know.

Patriotism can only go so far when you're fucked over big time.

And this taser thing is just not on. I'd sue UCLA.

it didnt seem like he was trying to leave when he wouldn't get up off the floor.

these types of situations are kinda stupid IMO. Yea the police (or was it university police?) handled this like trash. Carry the bastard out if he would get up or walk, but first tell him why they are taking him away. but also how hard is it for someone to should a freaking ID or say I dont have my id?

and another thing, its blurry video showing the ending of it all. I doubt any video captured the start, unless the library has cams. So we wont really know what started it all til later, and even then its based on recall, which is crap.
