I'm not sure what people are talking about when they adjust the outgoing track -- if you're song is going out of sync the last thing you'd want to do is waste time by switching turntables (and you also run the risk of confusing it and changing the pitch the wrong way). And about PVD mixing, he seems to let the track get out of sync sometimes (listen to the Desire --> Deep Sea transition on rosenmontags).

For me, I started originally by only using the pitch control. I find the best way not is to align the record initially when cued with your hand, then, if it starts to stray, speed it up with the pitch control or slow it down by putting my finger on the side of the platter. The most important thing is being able to recognize when and where the incoming song is straying, and adjust accordingly. If you can get it early, only the most experienced DJ's will pick up on it, and probably no one will if you are playing live.

If you adjust the louder of the two tracks then it's going to be more noticeable, surely?

on the contrary

the track that you are fading out is the quieter one...by this time you should already have the incoming track beatmatched. This way..the incoming track is louder *bass etc* you want to adjust the track that is goin out....it sounds weird.....but it works

think of it this way.....people are going to notice you correct the louder track.....u want to adjust the quieter one that way the louder one sounds like it waw brought in correctly

give it a try....u'd be suprised how well it works

fine by me..im just trying to pass on the knowledge. i myself used to adjust the incoming track..till i was taught by one of my friends who can out spin the best.

****PLEASE NOTE THAT WHEN I BRING IN A TRACK IT IS ALREADY MATCHED UP....meaning it sounds ok on beat when i bring it in...im talking about minor adjustments...if you cant do so yet....u need to work on that first******

That's a lot of consecutive posts, Liquid

By the way, that sample you just posted, it's flawless! I was watching out for the transition and when it ended I was like "Where was that?" Man, it's terrific!

Correct a mix ? What do you mean "correct a mix" !? I just grab a microphone and shout out something while quickly fading out the outgoing track. *shakes head* You people make things too hard on yourselves ...

ive been messing around on the decks with changing speeds.. quickly and back.

say for example, if its a lil' fast and you're playing at 45 rpm then u quickly hit the 33 rpm button and instantly switch back to 45..

the sound is about the same as a finger push/drag on the platter

but maybe a little more accurate? heh.

of couse, if u slip and dont switch it back INSTANTANEOSLY
your entire mix is fvcked

but its a new idea eh?
