well this is hardly a new phenonema is it? For instance, remixing popcorn has been going on for over 30 years without much credit to the original artist in the title

Pretty silly debate really considering this is seen in just about every other sector of music. If you cover a song, you are the artist - you performed it. You are not the composer, but that doesn't matter, the credit for the composition will be in the liner notes.

It's "Artist - Title", not "Composer - Title", and therein lies the difference.

A large percentage of music these days is sampled/covered, especially in the more popular mainstream genres.

Oh, and for the record, the following are not acceptable for appearing at the beginning of filenames in the format of %artist% - %title%:

techno
techno trance rave
abercrombie & fitch (yes, I have seen this one. Multiple times.)

ugh.

It should be stated clear if you are the original producer, a remixer, or a reworker.

its also extremely common in other genres too. Theres a massive amount of remakes/covers out there away from EDM. Its music in general.

yes and im sure the original artist is quite rich from it all aswell.
People seem to forget that to do a remake of a track you need permission so there not really ripping anything of.

When I play the originals for friends, they all scream, "Tiesto, Tiesto!" Nitwits. Granted, Tiesto is a genius at remixing.

And there are so many more to even count.

- Fly

There is no problem there

It's clearly stated that is a Tiesto Remix, and not his original Production.
