Because everybody is afraid to die - they can say they aren't afraid all they want to, and they can even convince themselves of it too, almost religiously, but that's only because they do not quite understand how oblivious we are to our own mortality most of the time - it's an innate function of sentience. And people who claim they have "faced death straight in the face" or something along those lines are either exaggerating or outright lying - they may have been in a situation where they have been uncertain of their own death but to romanticize it any further is just bullshit.
Instill the fear of certain, imminent death into anybody and they will panic for their lives.
To not be afraid of death is to not be afraid of anything because, when you die, you lose it all. |
I don't want to die, but I'm certainly not afraid to die. If someone was truly afraid of death, they wouldn't do things such as skydive, or bungee jump. I want to do both of those things.
