That may be true but lets not forget who fought for what either at the expense of millions of lives.

Trying to listen to someone equate Americans to Nazism is only being drowned out from the noise of all the fallen soldiers currently turning in their graves.

It's an opinion and that's about as serious as it gets.

Are you referring to American's being somehow immune to this phenomena of obedience? If you are, it's not an "opinion", it's been proven beyond doubt that people will commit any range of actions if the right conditions are set. Now you could argue that now the argument narrows down but the conditions are very general. If people can displace the blame from themselves to a figure of authority, and are given the illusion of not having an option no to do the action, that's all it takes to make a person commit such heinous acts.

Edit: I also forgot a condition that highlights shaolin's argument, people have to be exposed in small increments to whatever action they're going to be committing. It's like the frog in boiling water, and this may well be the first step in that series of events. Don't fool yourself thinking that American's and each and everyone of us including me and yourself are somehow special and are going to react differently.

The scariest part about the Japanese internment was that it was carried out by one of our most socially responsible presidents. FRD himself signed the executive order to have them detained after being given crap for evidence that the Japanese living here were a threat. He followed along and even kept them in the camps after it was determined that they were no threat at all. I think some of the camps didn't completely shut down till almost 1946 as well.

However, these camps did allow for forms of civilized life and families were kept together. People were allowed to ask for leave and able bodied men were allowed to go work for farmers in the areas around some of the camps for pay. It's kind of difficult to say that because we did this in the 1940's after nearly 60 years of Anti-Asian feelings that there is absolutely no question it would happen again, but along the same token you can't say it would never happen again cause it's impossible to tell and people are stupid.

*Edit: It should be noted that the anti-asian feelings were mainly focused on the Chinese for the longest time until Pearl Harbor and suddenly that view shifted. The people most responsible for that shift and continued prejudice actually came from the Press.
