hmm You have a point there.... I wonder how many ppl does Picotto average play for?

And really I dont think Picotto gets 20k£ every set he does! he might get loads of$$ when spinning at monster parties, but I doubt gets payed that much at smaller clubs (he does sometimes play in smaller clubs right?)

nunrg-dreamland -- one of my favs too!

anyhow, most DJs base thier price on the number of people at the party and the night. saturdays are usually the most expensive followed by fridays then thursdays.. at least thats how it works here in texas.... thus why parties on a friday usually have more headliners for the buck.

I know plenty of DJs who have played for FREE. yes, not a dime...

and why? cuz it's about the music and not the money.

I intended to do it for free .. the 1000 baht was just a bonus i guess .. got to play at a club .. get experience .. i couldn't have asked for more..

@djthunderbird - You're Right, Even Top DJs Play @ Small Clubs. Offcoarse Then They'll Have To Settle For Less But That Again Shows That They Don't Do It For The Money But Just Because They Like What They Do.

@Narcissus - Whiskey Would Be Just Fine

You guys are complaining that you're not being paid enough to spin trance to a crowd? Jesus, I'd PAY them to let me have a go at a crowd! I'm that desperate.

well it looks like i might have my first 'official' set out soon.. a few hours, maybe 5, at a restaurant/lounge... but the thing is, its the furthest thing from trance.. they want downtempo to house to breaks djs (for the dj crew)

so... basically im gonna have to break out whatever house/breaks i got.. yikes. im worried mostly about the sound system, as in if the monitor sucks

but they told me they're also gonna watch how i read the crowd which is HELLA SCARY cuz i really dont know the 1st thing about any crowd but for trance. YIKES again.

oh and also if i dont have enough chill' records.. i might have to use someone elses. another stress factor

are you serious? that'd sound horrible man. there's no way i can do that in a lounge/restaurant.. im thinking i can play some more progressive tracks if i have to, at real low bpms. starecase and holden etc.

but not epic trance..

maybe the food could be spiked with stoopid pills then epic trance would go over well..... but it'd make it taste a bit bitter

No of course I was kidding.. but some do say that trance is just chillout with bass in 'em, and I wouldn't say it's entirely untrue..

Yeah he's playing at a tiny underground-looking club in Newcastle in a few weeks alongside Matt Hardwick. The club's tiny, and only has about 1,000 capacity.

It's only down the road, so I'll be there
