cubikated really needs to be appreciated in a club (or on any huge bassy system); you really don't get the full effect of the lows on the kick otherwise. it sounds anything but watery..

good review though

Fair enough, but you don't buy an LP to play in the club.

have to say although his mixing is good he's track selection was utter shit when i saw him a while back. as i remember before leaving he played 2 mixes of rocky your body rock and two mixes of punk.

his recent productions havent appealed to me either. it seems he's aiming for the pop charts rather than the dance.

Well, I'm surely not a professional on this thing of evaluate Fery Corsten, because I don't know much but, one thing is certain, for me, Fery corsten as he is now, is kind of boring.... I listened to Fire and was like "mehh", then it come the ron van den beuken mix, and rock the house completely. Much, much btter (for me of course).

But his productions of the past years were much better.

Ferry used to be amazing but the "LEF" style has done nothing for him and imo he doesnt even play that much trance anymore. Should go back to what hes good at because the LEF stuf is just pure gash

I never got into much of his early stuff except for his Trance Energy set from 2000. Thanks again Monty But the last couple years his live sets have been great. Some good productions too.

I saw him in Charlotte, NC back in October, and I have to say that I was a bit nervous about Ferry not trying to play a good set because, come on - it is Charlotte, not Miami, NYC or Atlanta. But my doubts were in vain. Ferry played for just a little less then 3 hours. His set flowed well, got everyone dancing, no one wanted the party to stop. Although he did play a lot of his LEF tracks and all the usuals such as Breafast "The Air Between", Super8 "Get Off", BT "Somnabulist (Mark Norman Remix)" and others, I also heard many unreleased productions and his classic remix of Barber's Adagio For Strings. No messing around, just got behind the decks and gave the crowd exactly what they wanted.

My respect for him has really grown after that night as not every DJ in Top 10 would work this hard for a crowd of a mere 100 people (yeah, it was in a pretty small club) in a city - clubbing scene of which is not that big at all. He is not my favourite DJ, but his sets are definintely much more interesting and well played than those of many other trance DJ's.
