sometimes I do, but 99% of the time if I try to put something into a sequencer that I've had running through my head, it fails terribly, because a high bar has already been set and anything that lands under it doesn't fill the empty space. Just starting from scratch in a sequencer is the best way for me

He's right - what else would I write on a score? Notes and notation, although the auxilliary notation (dynamics, accents, etc.) is usually too much of a hassle to be worth the effort, so... just notes!

No, I need to mess around on my keyboard to get melodies. Ever since I started composing, I was never able to hear something in my head first, I had to create it....then make adjustments from there.

ALL THE TIME. I'll be out somewhere, hear something, or whatever, and get this crazy melody in my head and by the time I get home, I'm like ughhhhh fuck what was that tune.
