Actually, Arbiter, the Forer Effect is just part of it. When it comes to others, believers tend to see clear patterns where there might be none.

However, I do admit that, if both the observer and the observed believe in Astrology, they will both behave according to what is expected (that being a more extreme version of both Subject-expectancy effect and Observer-expectancy effect).

It's a load rubbish. They pick out about 15 positive points and negative ones for each sign so everyones bound to fall under some of them points.

One my mates spilt up with her boyfriend anytime anyone had a newspaper she'd franticially search for the Stars looking at hers and then her ex's If anything positive was there she'd go from being a moody miserable sow back to her happy oldself. I found that severely sad and thought her behaviour bordered that of a stalkers.

It makes me laugh when you speak to people who are really serious about Starsigns, they guess yours and end ranting on like Mystic Meg. 'Oh so your an Aries oh I'm a Leo that means we'll on like a house of fire!' I always think I've known your for ten minutes and I don't think we'll get on like a house of fire if your using shit like this to relate to me.

I don't put all my stock in Astrology, but I DO think it's a good tool for self-understanding. Not the ONLY tool, just one of many. Not everybody relates to the same concepts/theories/ideas...so of course Astrology is helpful to some.

I agree though, that people who go nuts with it are fucking morons.
