He had a show on HBO yeah, Life with Louis I think...anyway, yes he's WAY funnier than Dane Cook. The only thing that made Cook funny was his hyperactive shtick. Once you realize how much of an idiot he is, it's not really that funny

I wasnt much of a fan of Cook either...but his gig on Insomniac Uncencored...He killed it! I watch his Viscious Circle...and wasnt too impressed. Never seen Louis CK standup, I might have to hit youtube...
