good point, although i totally agree with lucid about videos / music that autoplays when you open a thread

I think the rule should be, embedding is fine as long as its not autostart upon opening of a thread. people viewing a thread should have the option to play said file or not.

didn't people also get warnings/suspensions for doing all that wacky HTML embedding with random shit falling down the page?

i think anything that is a disturbance to reading a particular thread (whether it be embedded audio/video that automatically plays or anything else that the user can't disable or choose to view themselves) should be against the rules.

it's no different than someone who hotlinks the same image 100 times in a row, or posts 100 lines of the same sentence over and over, forcing people to scroll down.

speaking of malls, i have a funny story...

at brookstone, there is some sort of stool thing that vibrates for excersize...and there was a kid on it who couldn't have been older than 10/11...
my room mate and i were walking by and we were watching him and laughing because he looked like a huge goober and he turns to us and says "wanna ride ladies?!"
a 10 yr old kid. we were like "have your balls even dropped yet, honey? where are your parents?"
it was funny/offensive/annoying

Yah, I believe that was Whiskers and Nou. I mean, clearly there ought to be boundaries against such things (though I thought it was kinda funny ), but from what I gathered out of Ian's post, he was wanting to know whether people should be banned/suspended for embedding all audio/video. If that were the case, Swamper would more than likely just disable the embedding of html altogether.
