Q5 that sounds like a whole lot of desperation to me, very telling from the cocky and confrontational years earlier when NeoCons made the rounds extolling the virtues of removing saddams flying drones, chemical factories and Soviet arsenal collection of nukes, but why let that get in the way of the facts of being welcomed as liberators, not encountering any drawn out conflicts in Iraq and bringing democracy to the Mideast. Have no worry though Q5 since the Dems won't stand up in totallity for fear of being labelled traitors by the Republicans in 08'. Wonder how long it wil take to bring that democracy to Iraqis, at this rate U.S. will be in Iraq for a very long time. Remember "we can't afford to lose" Can you define intractable.

As for spending practices sorry to inform you but hypocrites are in no position to comment on that, seeing what a stellar responsibility has been demonstrated by this administration on that issue. We all know its the entitlements that are the issue for our soaring deficit, gotta get rid of it and all will be kosher on that issue

One would hope.
Of course the worse end of the scenario being that they continue with their new found windfall...

I thought the speech offered a lot of sunshine up everyone's ass, but little more. I don't know how he expects to balance the budget and not raise taxes at the same time.

My favourite line was when he asked Congress to reign in the reckless spending. Pure gold. I thought it was Colbert up there for a second...

On the topic of bi-partisanship, I think that US politicans have forgotten how to work toegether. The two party system results in one party always having a majority, and the ability to dictate policy (to some degree). There isn't the need to work with 3 or 4 parties in order to gain consensus through compromise. Instead, when compromise is needed, it materialises in supplemental pork spending to make whoever is objecting happy. Backwards logic, but that's the CYA mentality that all too many US politicans would appear to have (Bridge to Russia? give me a fucking break)
