I know you're very keen to push this agenda, but For An Angel is just as shit melodically as it is bland production-wise.

Well, its controversial. Truth is that "For an Angel" wasn't special melodic-wise (and production-wise is simple). I mean the lead-line is extremely simple. But still, it goes somewhere, it has a direction. Its simple but inspiring. At least, i personally find it to contain more inspiration then most (if not all) of todays epic/melodic trance tracks which are extremely generic, VST preset-trance-by-numbers tracks. Bloody technology doesn't make a difference to inspiration. On the contrary sometimes it could make things "easier" for the producer, with all these presets and automatic functions.

Surely I don't sound like anything to you. I'm typing these words, not talking them through a microphone.

Surely you mean I don't seem like I'm 31??

Anyway - I'd love to knwo why I don't seem like I'm 31?

You seem to be giving the short shy responses. Like I did when i was 12.....

evryone is going to have different likes and dislikes. what you think is good maybe complete balls to someone else get over it.

But just like a modern supercar is better to drive than a classic supercar, so a track produced with modern technology can be deemed a better production than one with old technology.

If that weren't the case then people would still be producing tracks as they were produced 10 or 20 years ago.

Jarv

i don't get you. are you suggesting that the todays tracks are better simply because they sound more modern?
modern technology does not lead to better productions. I don't know how I can make it more simple for you.

Would you trust someone who said that For An Angel is the best track ever made, if that particular tune was the only one he had ever heard?

No, of course not.

Get a grip. Read my post. Come up with a proper argument. THEN post.

This does, once again, prove how much of a weapon you are!

How do you know how much music I have heard?

Even if you have heard more than me (and there's no proof either way - which doesn't matter since it's irrelevant) doesn't make your opinion hold more weight than mine.

For an Angel was awesome, there's no doubt that at the time this track was the best.

We've moved on now - and frankly, due to the technologies that are avaiable to producers these days, there are far superior productions out there now.

I just think it's gone a little too far. Yes, it's a great track. But enough already!!

What are your views?

Jarv

PS Mr Mystery - if you're going to say anything, try and make it a little bit positive. Think happy thoughts...

Music is eternal. Listen to some Beethoven sometime.

Do you realise how many irritating and self-affirming assumptions you're making? Your argument is so full of holes and snobbery I nearly spent half a page cutting into it. And it completely demolishes my respect for you when all you seem to want to do with your illegally-obtained informed opinion is use it to try and show off and gain credibility points at every turn. Someone like GrimReaper is always going to know as much as you, and not only did he spend years earning that knowledge but he doesn't act a complete dick once he has it. You're like a kid with a gun.

I may be an asshole, but I don't see you coming up with any counter-arguments. I just see bitterness. Don't worry honey, you'll get there.

Nope - this is what I mean:

Get 2 people - exactly the same.

Get two tracks, with, for the sake of argument, the same qualities across the board.

Produce one with old technology, one with new. So long as the same level of skill goes into each, out the other end will come a better production, INO, from the new technology.

Me and a mate were discussing thsi the other day, you can't easlity mix a classic 98 trancer (like, for example TBR - Trancewave) with a modern trancer (Like for example Hydragen - Creature Of Habit) becuase they are such different levels of production.

Don't get me wrong - a classic track is a classic track, and nothing can take that away from it - but a modern more polished track, of equal ingenuity and quality, brings more to the table.
