Its an intimacy thing. It violates the feelings of privacy, closeness, and uniqueness.

Why would someone want to be deeply committed to someone that doesnt treat you like youre the only one?

Some people might be desperate enough to let their partner show them that they dont care which persons hole they are with as long as its a hole, but someone with some standards and self respect would never accept that.

It would be over for me first time no going back.

and if they did it in my house id kill them both and dance over their corpses with feathers stuck in my hair and beads hanging from my dick howling at the moon.

there is but most people don't make any distinction and using the excuse isn't really going to cut it when you get caught in the act

It's wrong in the sense that it breaks a contract.

If you have committed to monogamy, and you have sex with another, you are in breech of your contract.

Maybe a better question is why do most people insist on a monogamous relationship?

Perhaps you should define for us what a relationship is and what are the exclusive things that fall under that banner.

There's nothing wrong with sleeping with someone else, as long as you're both sleeping

edit: Sorry, either I write long posts or I can't be serious at all

Xactly.

When I entered into the monogamous relationship that I'm in now I clearly defined it for my girl. I told her that I promised one thing only, not to have sex with others. I told her that I wasn't promising not to love others, or not spend time or talk with them.

That only leaves defining what is actually sex and what isn't. Of course a bj is sex, but where is the line? A simple hug doesn't seem like sex, but not all hugs are created equal.

well because when you are committed to someone in a relationship (see definitions below), you are leading them to believe that they are all you need and that they are the only people you are sexually active with and intimate with. when you sleep with someone else, you break that trust, and you also put them in danger (STD's?).

Depends on your views of intimacy and what it means to be in a relationship. It's wrong if it crosses boundaries you set in place within the relationship.

Different strokes for different folks...some people have open relationships and sleeping with other people is totally acceptable.
